Want the whole market, not one bottle? The monthly market reports roll every tracked expression up into movers, gainers, fallers, and regional breakdowns. They're public, updated on the first of each month, and — like everything on wsky1 — built on median hammer prices in GBP, excluding buyer's premium.

Inside a monthly report

Each report lives at /market/<month>-<year> (for example /market/june-2026). It covers a rolling 3-month window and compares it to the prior period. Sections, in order:

  • Narrative — a written summary: total lots, how many expressions rose vs. fell, the standout performer, and the biggest distilleries by volume.
  • Overview stats — Lots traded · Expressions tracked · Avg hammer price · Total hammer value.
  • Market direction by time horizon — three cards (last month, 3 months, 12 months), each a risers / flat / fallers split with a sentiment read (positive / negative / mixed).
  • Top gainers (3-month) and Biggest fallers (3-month) — cards with the bottle, its distillery, the % move, and the current median.
  • Most traded expressions — a table sorted by lot count: Expression · Lots · Price · 1M · 3M · 12M.
  • Most active distilleries and By region — volume leaders, and each region's share of lots and expressions.
  • All expressions — 1M / 3M / 12M movers — the full sortable table (sort by 3M move · 1M move · 12M move · Price · Lots), showing the top 200 expressions by move magnitude.

Where 1M / 3M / 12M mean, precisely: 1M = this month vs. the previous month; 3M = the 3-month window vs. the prior 3-month window; 12M = the 3-month window vs. the same window a year ago. All medians, hammer only.

The Collectable Scotch Index

The quarterly benchmark lives at /market/index. It's a single headline index number with:

  • What the index measures and the Constituent list with each constituent's Median hammer;
  • The story behind the number and Notable lots & movers / Trophy hammers;
  • a Methodology section and a Cite this data block;
  • Past editions — the archive of prior CSI editions.

Live dataset stats

For the raw scale of the dataset behind all of this, the live stats page shows live counts pulled from the production database: Total records (price points + auction listings), Catalog bottles, Distilleries, Data sources, the Last scrape (source + status), and the Refresh cadence (daily, five scheduled crons between 03:00–10:00 UTC). Its Methodology box links the JSON endpoints (/prices/<slug>.json, /catalog/<key>.json) and /llms.txt — all documented in Data & API access.

Notes & limits

  • Median hammer, GBP, ex-premium throughout — see Where prices come from for the houses and the buyer's-premium math.
  • Reports are generated on the first of each month; the "latest report" is the most recent complete month.
  • The movers table is capped at the top 200 expressions by move magnitude — the long tail isn't listed there but each bottle still has its own price page.
  • Headline movers are filtered for reliability. The narrative's standout performer and the Top gainers (3-month) / Biggest fallers (3-month) cards only surface a bottle when its move rests on at least 3 real lots on each side of the 3-month comparison, isn't moving against its own headline (a "gainer" that's actually down over the last month is excluded, as is a "faller" that's up), and has consistent horizons — a shorter window can't overshoot a longer one (no 3M +481% while 12M is only +422%). Thin-lot or contradictory rows are kept out of the headline; they still appear in the full All expressions movers table, which is deliberately noisy.

Related
