Where to find it

The hub lives at /blog and is titled "Field notes for serious collectors." It's labelled Insights everywhere it's linked — the primary nav, the footer, and the homepage teaser — so if you guess the URL, /insights also works: it's a permanent (301) redirect to /blog, so both land on the same content.

What's published

The hub has three families of content, all built from the same live auction data the rest of wsky1 runs on.

Long-form articles

The featured cards at the top are hand-researched guides — distillery collecting guides, investment explainers, how-tos, and market analysis. Each card shows a topic tag (e.g. Distillery, Investment) and a read time (e.g. 12 min), and opens a full article at /blog/<slug>. For example:

Every article grounds its claims in real hammer prices and cites its sources. At the foot of each one you'll find three related articles plus a cluster of down-links into the matching price and distillery pages — so you can go straight from "why Dalmore holds value" to that distillery's live auction data.

Weekly market briefings

Under "Weekly market briefings — from this week's hammer data" are short, AI-written briefings generated from the most recent auction results (the newest 20 are shown). Each carries a small AI badge so you always know it was auto-generated, with its own tag and read time, and a Read briefing link to the full piece at /blog/<slug>. These are the "what moved this week" reads that keep the hub current between longer guides.

Annual data reports

Under "Annual data reports — in numbers" are the year-end roundups, for example the State of whisky investing 2026 (/blog/state-of-whisky-investing-2026) and its 2025 predecessor — the whole market's year, told through the auction record.

How this differs from the research guides

Insights is editorial reading. The investment & buying guides (/invest, /buy, /best) are auto-computed data roll-ups — one page per distillery or year, generated straight from price_history with no prose opinion. Use the guides to look up a distillery's 12-month returns or best months to buy; use Insights to understand why the market is doing what it's doing. Both are public and both link back into the same price pages.

Notes & limits

  • Public, no account. The whole hub is open — signing in isn't required. To track what you own instead of reading about it, see Getting started.
  • Grounded in hammer prices. Like everything on wsky1, the figures in these articles are hammer prices in GBP, excluding buyer's premium — see Where prices come from.
  • AI briefings are labelled. Weekly briefings carry an AI badge; the long-form articles and annual reports are researched pieces.
  • Old links keep working. When two guides are consolidated, the retired URL 301-redirects to the surviving article, so saved links and search results don't break.
  • Not investment advice. These are field notes and data roundups, not recommendations.
