wsky1 is built and run by a small, independent team of whisky collectors and data engineers. We're not an auction house, a broker, or a fund — we don't buy, sell, or take a cut of your bottles. We make one thing: a valuation engine that turns millions of messy auction results into an honest, up-to-date price for the whisky you own.

Every valuation on wsky1 is built from real hammer prices — what bottles genuinely sold for at auction — never asking prices, retail RRP, or estimates. There are three steps:

• 1We match the same bottle across every house. The same release sells under wildly different lot titles at different auctioneers. Our canonical-matching engine resolves those variants — by distillery, age, vintage, cask, bottler and size — down to one identity, so a Laphroaig 10 sold at five houses becomes one price history, not five disconnected ones.
• 2We reprice daily. As fresh auction results land, your collection is revalued in the background — so the figure you see reflects the market this week, not whenever you last checked.
• 3We use hammer prices, not inflated ones. Our figures are the hammer price — what the winning bidder's bid was — which excludes the buyer's premium (typically 24–28% on top at major houses). That's the truest measure of secondary-market value.

The hard part of valuing collectable whisky isn't reading a price — it's knowing that two differently-worded lots are the same bottle, and that a third is a different one. That entity-resolution problem is what the team has spent its time on: a matching engine that combines strict structural rules (age and vintage are never merged away) with adjudication for the genuinely ambiguous cases, so the same bottle from any source collapses together and prices don't get corrupted by bad merges.
